Their debut performance as a rotating cast of All Star musicians was to a Sold Out audience at the Cutting Room in NYC featuring The Chase Brothers with Jennifer Hartswick, Jeff Sipe, Todd Stoops, Chuck Jones, Laura Reed, Rob Volo, Rob Somerville and Chris Bullock. Since then the band has gone on to focus on bringing together members of James Brown's Band with contemporary musicians that help draw a younger audience to the music of James Brown while giving musicians from up and coming funk ensembles the opportunity to learn the funk from the masters and creators of the genre. The band has been blessed to have worked with several James Brown alumni including Fred Wesley, Clyde Stubblefield, Fred Thomas, Mousey Thompson, Amy Christian, Keith Jenkins, Jeffrey Watkins, Erik Hargrove, and more!The James Brown Dance Party puts on rare and special performances as it is not a full time touring band, so if you see the band is performing any where near you don't miss the opportunity! Notable players have joined the band on stage including Adam Deitch of Lettuce, Binky Griptite of The Dap Kings, Michael Ray of Kool And The Gang, Antwaun Stanley of Vulfpeck, Rob Mecurio of Galactic, Pete Murano of Trombone Shorty, Chris Bullock of Snarky Puppy, Eddie Roberts of New Mastersounds, & many more!The James Brown Dance Party is a rotating All Star Tribute to James Brown featuring The Chase Brothers with members of The James Brown Band, Snarky Puppy, Trombone Shorty, Galactic, Trey Aanastasio Band, Bootsy Collins Band, Lettuce, Kool And The Gang, The Dap Kings, Vulfpeck, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Antibalas, John Legend Band, Talib Kweli Band, Sly And The Family Stone, New Mastersounds, The Main Squeeze, Aquarium Rescue Unit, ALO, Jamie Lidell, Tea Leaf Green, Parliament Funkadelic, Victor Wooten Band, Break Science, Pretty Lights Live Band, Kung Fu, Dopapod and more!
